Teaching and Training

Trade Facilitation Consulting Ltd is frequently tasked with developing and delivering innovative training solutions. Our Director Prof. Dr. Andrew Grainger is an experienced educator. Recent portfolio highlights include:

Enterprise Ireland – Customs and BREXIT training for small businesses

In partnership with KGH Customs we have delivered more than 20 interactive one-day customs workshops across Ireland for small businesses.

Supported by Enterprise Ireland, training events are hosted by Ireland’s Local Enterprise Offices. Participants are introduced to a wide range of practical customs issues, including those that arise within the context of BREXIT and the continued trade between Ireland and the United Kingdom. The practical benefit of the training was featured in the Irish edition of The Sunday Times. Feedback is constantly good.

To accommodate COVID-19 restrictions we recently redesigned the workshops to an online format. Bookings for our and other Local Enterprise hosted training can be made on their website.

Trade facilitation for policy makers

Trade Facilitation Consulting is often tasked with delivering bespoke training for senior policy makers within the subjects of trade facilitation, border management, supply chain management, transport and logistics, and customs.

The focus in delivery might be on specific technical issues or the wider policy context – including policy evaluation and research. Delivery formats range from short traditional class-room type settings to exstended interactive workshop-type environments. Often customised training is also provided to help assist teams with specific tasks.

University level teaching and programme development

He is also regularly involved in activities at the University of Münster (Germany) and is also an Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Customs and Excise Studies at Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Australia. He has supervised over 40 master projects as well as several PhD students.

Training materials and content

We regularly develop bespoke training materials. This includes engaging online content for use on official websites as well as practical case-studies, simulations, interactive exercises and teaching notes for inclusion in “train the trainer” instruction packs.

A seminal textbook with the title “Cross-border logistics operations: effective trade facilitation and border management” will be published by Kogan in August 2021.
